River City Casino to Open in St Louis

February 11th, 2010 Posted in News

State regulatory officials in the US state of Missouri have met with the Missouri Gaming Commission recently in Clayton, Missouri to cast a unanimous vote to issue the required license needed to set up what is the St Louis area’s 7th casino, the $375 million River City Casino, owned by Pinnacle Entertainment. This will be the 13th casino in the state and will employ over twelve hundred people once the doors open in its location near the River Des Peres. The casino’s site is a major achievement for the local area which had a long neglected area of land that needed developers and that was a need Pinnacle sought to meet. The local population had feared that the site itself would remain in its contaminated state for many years before the casino company swept in to deal with the burdensome task of cleaning up the area. In addition to this, three quarters of the $4 million the casino pays annually will be used to keep local community organizations well funded. This is in addition to massive amounts expected in tax revenue for the county and state.

A whopping $17 million per month are the expected earnings of this particular casino, one of three the group owns and operates in the St Louis area. The other two casinos, President and Lumiere Place, are located in downtown St Louis. Further development is expected in the coming months as another casino, this one to be built for a price of $350 million, seeks its licensing at the state level.
